Toyspeed skrev:okej...
Sleeper, Cyrix?
Ok, I will try to explain in english... might be easier that way.
The problem: the head will fill up with oil during long session of track driving, this oil will be blown out of the vent and into the catchcan.
The reasson: At high rpm the oil pressure will be high, and therefor the head will be surplied with alot of oil... For this oil to get back into the oil pan, it will have to go tru the 3 large holes that is at the back of the head\block... but on a high hp 3\5sgte engine you will have alot of blowby due to alot of boost and the large clearances you will have on a "race engine" ( I built my engine as a "Loose" engine to better withstand long high hp track driving.)
All this blowby will have to be vented somewhere, and with the stock or with 2x an-12 vents from the valvecover as the only vent, the air from the blowby will go out that way. to get to these vents the air have to go up tru the same 3 holes as the oil try`s to go down.. and therefor the oil will have problem getting back into the oilpan.
My solution ( there is many others, but this is the way i have done it, and it is working great.) : Change the setup, so that the blowby don`t have to go up the 3 holes, the air will go the path with the least resistance. So with a an-20 ( overkill ) right next to the oil return from the turbo, the air don`t have to go up tru the 3 holes, but rather go up the an-20 hose..
I have also changed it back a only a an-08 in the valve cover, i have done this so that there is more "resistance" for the oil to go tru there.. ( the idea is to limit the blowby going up to the head, and therefor making it easier for the oil to get back to the oilpan. ) If i was to do this again, i actualy would have just used a an-06 and not a an-08 )
To be 100% shure that i would have a problem with filling up the catch can during track driving, i welded the an-20 to the bottom of the catch tank, so that the oil would return into the engine, But as you wrote, you where worried that you would fill up the oil with ethanol, and with a stock 2 gen gte setup, you are correct.. So what i did was to rebuild it like it is done on the 3 gen 3sgte ( with a pcv valve.) this will suck the ethanol gasses out of the oil, ( i have alot less ethanol in the oil now than i have using the old setup with just venting from head, and no pcv valve ( you should read up on what a pcv valve does if you don`t know, this is actually a really important thing to have if you wont your engine to last for a long time. )
( the 3 gen valve is designed from toyota to work on a stock 3 gen, witch have alot less blowby than the highly tuned engine, so i have made it ready to 2 x 3 gen valves, but for now, it seems the one valve is doing a ok job. )
( i will post a picture of my engine bay in my tread in the media section. )
